Dutch Hoes

The Dutch Hoe is probably the most versatile garden hoe and is ideal for weeding between rows of plants and for creating drills. They are available with strong carbon steel heads, which may be sharpened, or the more modern stainless steel. Weeds are cut off from their roots with a garden hoe, and may simply be left to dry and die in the sun or collected for disposal.

We stock a range of Dutch Hoes, from some of the very best names in the garden tools industry, such as Spear & Jackson, Wilkinson Sword and Fiskars.

Dutch Hoes are a great garden tool to add to your arsenal, making weeding large areas much easier.

Draw Hoes

The Draw Hoe is a versatile garden tool ideally suited for chopping weeds, drawing up earth around plants, making flat bottomed seed drills and, with the blade corner, making V shaped drills. The curved neck on the Draw Hoes makes the hoe easier to use between plants without damaging them.

A Draw Hoe can be invaluable in drawing up the earth to provide plant protection. It is particularly suited for drawing up potatoes, where its long handle can considerably aid and prevent stooping and back pain.

We currently stock Draw Hoes made by Spear & Jackson, Wilkinson Sword and Fiskars, some of the best known names in garden tool manufacture.

Swoes/Angled Hoes

Swoes, also know as Angled Hoes, are similiar in designed and use to the Dutch Hoe, but as they are generally lighter with a smaller, angled head they are better used for weeding in tighter areas. they are ideal for weeding around and behind plants in tight situations.

Swoes are used with both a push and pull action which is used on the surface, or just below, to sever the weed's roots. The weeds can then either be collected for composting or disposal or, on warm days, left to wilt and die on the surface.

A swoe can also, rather usefully and precisely, be used to produce seed drills.
