Multi-Purpose Grass/Lawn Seed Multi-Purpose Grass/Lawn Seed Ref: GRASS SEED

Westland Multi-Purpose Grass/Lawn Seed is great for establishing new lawns or renovating existing areas. With this Multi-Purpose Grass/Lawn Seed you will soon have a superb lawn with the minimum of fuss. This quality seed mixture will give a superb, hard-wearing, quality lawn suitable for general purpose use.

When to Sow

Sow grass/lawn seed anytime from March to September. However for best results sow grass/lawn seed from March to May, and in the early autumn.

What to Expect?

Grass will start to appear from 5 days onwards in good conditions when the soil is moist.

Before you Sow

New Lawns: If the soil is dry, water thoroughly and leave to soak in overnight. Cultivate the ground to between 20-25cm depth (8-10 in) taking care to remove any weeds and stones. Rake the surface level to produce a fine crumb texture. Tread down or roll to firm the surface.

Lawn Repairs: Remove any weeds either by hand or by using a selective weedkiller treatment. Then mow the lawn closely before raking or scarifying to remove the moss and any weed remains. If the ground appears hard or compacted aerate using a garden fork. Finally, fill any shallow holes and level the surface.

Sowing

Apply Westland Multi-Purpose Grass/Lawn Seed at a rate of 33g/m² (25g/m²). One handful is approximately 33g. Lightly rake to incorporate the seed into the surface.

After Sowing

Rolling: The ground should be rolled or lightly firmed by walking over it and pressing the seed into the soil.

Watering: Water the seed thoroughly with a fine spray taking care not to wash the seeds away.

Mowing: New growth can be cut for the first time when it is approximately 5-8cm (2-3 in) high. A light trim will be sufficient initially. Gradually lower the blade height to about 2.5cm (1 in), which is ideal.

Available to cover the following areas:

5m² Patch Pack.
20m² Pack.
