An extremely hardy vegetable providing a succession of tender shoots from early to late Spring. A delicay, but so easy to grow. Broccoli thrives on any well nourished soil.

Sow:

March-May, thinly, half-inch (1.5cm) deep in a seed bed. Keep soil moist. Transplant seedlings to their growing position in July-August, spacing 18-24ins (45-60cm) apart. Plant firmly and water well until established.

Harvest:

February-May. Pick the young shoots regularly to be sure of getting the best flavour and to encourage further cropping.

Serving Tip:

Boil or steam and serve with melted butter. Ideal for deep freezing.
