Beetroot Seeds - Boltardy - Mr Fothergill's

Beetroot Seeds - Boltardy - Mr Fothergill's

Ref: 2033

Price: £1.49

Quantity:

Undoubtedly the finest beet to sow early because of its resistance to 'bolting' (going to seed). The flavour is delicious, and the beets are remarkably evenly shaped with good colouring and texture. Beetroot grows well on most well cultivated soil.

Sow:

Mid-March-July, 1in (2.5cm) deep in rows 1ft (30cm) apart. Keep soil moist. Thin out to 4in (10cm) apart when large enough to handle. Sw thinly and repeat at intervals for succession.

Harvest:

June onwards. Don't cut the leaves, but twist them off as this will prevent bleeding. For Winter use, lift in the Autumn and store away from frost in sand or soil.

Cooking Tip:

Boil in salted water until soft (1-2 hours depending on size), and leave to cool. The skin will now rub off with little effort. Ideal for deep freezing.

Average contents: 275 seeds.
